Dear Julia,
Over the course of the past few weeks, general Sherman has been very effective. Although he lost at Kennesaw, the rebels didn’t slow down his march to Atlanta much. After carefully reviewing his plan it seems as if he is marching to savanna. I am certainly glad I don’t live in Atlanta. As of now the city is smoldering. It is most indubitable the we have the rebels on the run. After all Atlanta was where all their factories were. K expected that in the coming days the confederacy will start dying a slow and painful death.
With love,
Ulysses
